Six teams of middle school teachers of different subjects attended the TEACH THE
FINANCE CHALLENGE, a hackathon competition organized as part of the Finance
Lesson project, in partnership with Mastercard, to foster teachers’ creativity in teaching
financial education using an integrated approach. Over the course of a week, teams took
part in training sessions and worked to develop projects aimed at exploring the skills
youth need for financial independence and how they can be included in interdisciplinary
activities that link saving or responsible money management with core subjects such as
math, biology, chemistry, geography, history, religion or foreign languages. The winning
